I attended this event for the first time as a guest of the past Captains. They meet biennially, spring and autumn, for a golf event, dinner and then discuss current golfing questions with the President of our club.

The golf itself was a team event, I made up a team of four with Irvine Caplan, Simon Cole and Gary Silver (again!)

The format was best two Stableford scores counting, over 15 holes, and our team had some mixed results, had an ok score but didn’t feature at the prize giving!

On a personal level, I was delighted to play a round again in the company of Irvine Caplan, who has been mentioned many times in the course of this blog. In 1994, I was the winner of his Captain’s Prize, and we have remained friendly ever since. Irv still gets the ball flying, not as far, but always straight.

I shall now look forward to the next meeting of this group in May 2022.
